While you have Rice Krispies in the house, you may as well also make these peanut butter rice krispie treats! Twist your rubber arm, right?
The foundation for the recipe is the same as classic Rice Krispies, except this version has strawberries! The strawberry flavor is sweet but doesn’t taste artificial since you’ll be using freeze-dried strawberries (instead of strawberry jello). It adds a nice fruity twist to this classic treat!
The ingredients are simple and the results are wonderful (and pink!):
Freeze-dried strawberries: If you’ve never used freeze-dried strawberries before, they are fresh strawberries that have been dehydrated. They have a strong strawberry flavor and maintain their nutritional value. For this strawberry rice krispie treat recipe you’ll grind the freeze-dried fruit into a strawberry powder and add it to the mix. This gives a nice strawberry flavor and colors your treats pink! You can purchase freeze-dried strawberries at many local grocery stores. Marshmallows: These are a key ingredient as they add sweetness and the familiar stickiness to these treats. When marshmallows are melted, like they will be for this recipe, they form a gooey texture that will bind everything together and allow you to make square-shaped rice krispie treats. Salted butter: Use salted butter to balance some of the sweetness of the dessert. You can use margarine instead of butter if that’s what you have on hand. Rice Krispie cereal: For this recipe, you will need 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal, so consider purchasing more than one box. This crispy rice cereal will add a wonderful crunch to the squares.
