Kiwi – kiwis are a rich source of vitamin C, which is great for your immune system. They can be tart but the sweetness of the ripe banana helps to balance it out. Banana – bananas are very nutritious and make this smoothie creamy. The riper the banana, the sweeter it is! Strawberries – in-season strawberries are sweet and juicy whereas frozen strawberries can be a bit more tart. Yogurt – yogurt makes this smoothie more substantial and enhances it with probiotics. We prefer plain Greek yogurt but you can use any yogurt. Use a dairy-free yogurt or full-fat coconut milk to make it a vegan smoothie. Water – we use water but you can also use milk or a non-dairy alternative like almond milk for a more creamy texture. Honey – honey is optional but adds a touch of natural sweetness to offset the tartness of the kiwis. Use agave or maple syrup to keep it plant-based.

Protein powder – give your smoothie a protein boost with a scoop of your favorite protein powder. Vanilla tastes great, but unflavored works well, too. Nut butter – a tablespoon or two of nut butter will add healthy fat and protein, making this smoothie more satiating. Almond butter, cashew butter, and even peanut butter taste great. Chia seeds or hemp seeds – these little seeds are nutritional powerhouses and a tablespoon or two will give your smoothie a boost of omega 3’s and plant-based protein. Leafy greens – you can never go wrong with leafy greens like a handful of spinach or kale. Keep in mind it will change the color of this smoothie.
