Love gooey caramel? Make this lava cake with salted caramel next! Two words: Salted. Caramel. Need I say more? Life is simply better when you have a tub of delicious ice cream in the freezer. Whether it’s a warm day, a celebration, or just because, this salted caramel ice cream is exactly what you want to reach for this summer: It’s decadent, perfectly sweetened, and dreamy!No churn methods usually involve tediously scraping the whole thing every half hour for a few hours to prevent freezer burn. And making homemade caramel sauce calls for some time investment over the stovetop. But when it’s summertime, there are oceans to swim in, parties to plan, margaritas to drink, and burgers to flip – who has time to scrape ice cream every 30 minutes? Not me! Let’s be real about salted caramel ice cream though – it can be a bit tricky! I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spend my summer trying not to burn caramel over the stove top, or dealing with ice crystals every 30 minutes. That’s why I’ve got two super easy tricks to make this the simplest, most delicious ice cream:
Chocolate bliss: Stir in some chocolate chips or chunks over your bowl of ice cream for a salted caramel chocolate twist. Nutella: Take decadence to the next level by adding a dollop of Nutella, mixing through the swirls. Salted pretzels: Play off the saltiness and fold in some crushed salted pretzels for another layer of savory. Chopped nuts: Pecans, walnuts, or almonds add a little crunch. Cookies: Roughly break cookies into chunks and stir them in for a delicious treat. This works well with Oreos or chocolate chip cookies. A scoop of this is sure to make anyone’s day. Salted caramel sauce: Who can resist extra pour of salted caramel on their salted caramel ice cream?! Double up on the decadence! Coconut: Some shredded coconut adds texture and a little tropical undertone.
