This syrup is what we make when we see bright red raspberries appearing at farmers’ markets and grocery stores mid-summer. We make a big batch as a way of prolonging their short growing season, and so we can enjoy their flavor in a variety of ways.
Use it as a sweetener to make refreshing Italian soda, or for flavoring iced tea or lemonade. It’s healthier than soda or store-bought juices and you can adjust the amount you use based on your desired sweetness.
It tastes wonderful drizzled over sweet breakfasts or stirred into oatmeal. You can even brush it between cake layers to keep things moist. Use it to make snow cones, ice cream sundaes, and anything else you can think of!
Raspberries – fresh or frozen raspberries both work well, but we love making this recipe when they’re in season. Sugar – we use granulated sugar because it’s clear and dissolves easily. Water
