If you love boozy coffee-flavored drinks, also try our espresso martini or coffee margarita. It’s a creamy latte spiked with a splash of Irish cream, making it less boozy than Irish coffee. It tastes milky and smooth with a mild coffee flavor, a bit of sweetness, and hints of vanilla and chocolate. You only need three ingredients to make it, and no special equipment is required. While a steam wand or milk frother will certainly give you some nice foam, heating up the milk on the stove absolutely does the trick. Simply brew a couple of shots of espresso into a mug. You can also use strong brewed coffee in place of espresso. Froth or heat the milk together with the Irish cream, then pour it into the mug. Don’t worry, no fancy latte art skills are required for this homemade version! If you plan to drink it later in the day, it can easily be made with decaffeinated espresso or coffee. For a non-alcoholic version, try Irish cream syrup instead. This winter warmer is easy to make, and even easier to enjoy. It’s the perfect drink for slow mornings or as an afternoon or after-dinner cocktail. Serve it to mark special occasions like St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or birthdays!
Espresso – we like the bold taste of espresso, but strong brewed coffee also works. Use decaf espresso or coffee if needed. Irish cream – Irish cream is a creamy liqueur made with cream, cacao, and Irish whiskey. To make a non-alcoholic version of this recipe, use Irish cream syrup instead. Whole milk – we use whole milk for a full-bodied creamy texture and excellent foam, but any milk will work. If you prefer a dairy-free alternative, go for a barista blend which will foam up nicely.
A Bailey’s latte is also a nice way to finish off a meal if you’re hosting and not serving dessert. Don’t worry, you can easily swap the espresso for decaf.
