If you’re after an autumn drink without the alcohol, try our instant pot apple cider or apple lemonade. There are a lot of spiked apple cider recipes out there but this one is our easy and delicious go-to. We just simmer unfiltered apple juice on the stove with mix of cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger, star anise, and peppercorns. Then pour some bourbon into cinnamon sugar rimmed glasses, and top with the spiced cider. If you’re having company, it’s easy to make a double or triple batch. It will fill your home with the most incredible aromas, too! Here’s what you’ll need to make this spiked apple cider:
Unfiltered apple juice – look for raw, unfiltered apple juice during the apple harvest season, which is often the same thing as apple cider. Spices – we use a mix of cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and peppercorns but you can use a mulling mix, or just pick a few of your favorites. Ginger – fresh ginger adds a warming kick plus all the added health benefits (because life’s about balance!) Cinnamon sugar – for making a sugar rim, we use a 1:4 mix of cinnamon to granulated sugar. Bourbon or spiced rum – they have their own unique flavor profiles, and rum will be a bit sweeter, but both work equally well with spiced apple cider.
