If you love the taste of sriracha, also try our sriracha butter, baked sriracha buffalo wings, or lemongrass grilled chicken with sriracha mayo. This easy homemade Asian-inspired chicken recipe is made with tender chicken drumsticks tossed in the most delicious spicy, sweet, and sour sauce. It’s a healthier dish with all the taste of take-out that’s easy to make at home. You can adjust the heat by adding more or less sriracha and the extra sauce can be served alongside the cooked chicken. It’s ready in just 45 minutes, most of which is hands-off, so you can prepare the rest of dinner, tackle your to-do list, or chill. Make a double batch for quick and easy lunches over rice, noodles, or atop a salad.
Honey – runny honey makes the sauce sticky and sweet. Ketchup – a versatile sauce that adds its sweet tomato flavor. Sriracha – adds heat and a tangy, pungent taste. Rice vinegar – adds acidity to balance out the other flavors, and tenderizes the chicken. Soy sauce – for its deep, salty, rich flavor. Ginger and garlic – the perfect Asian seasoning combination. Chicken drumsticks – bone-in, skin-on chicken drumsticks are tender and flavorful. Green onions, sesame seeds, lime wedges (optional, for serving) – are added at the end for garnish.
For the extra sauce: once the chicken is cooked, the honey sriracha sauce is delicious served straight out of the pan. If you’d like it to be a little thicker, pour the extra glaze into a small frying pan on high heat. Let the glaze simmer rapidly for 1-3 minutes to thicken it. Remember, it will thicken more as it cools so don’t make it too thick! We also love it with our soy ginger noodles and vegetable asian stir fry noodles. This honey sriracha chicken also makes great party food for serving on game-night with some sweet and spicy yam wedges or skinny bang bang cauliflower.
