Use the chocolate mousse in this recipe, or try it with our take on Julia Child’s chocolate mousse. For a dairy-free version, try our vegan pots de creme. They’re a super fun Halloween treat to make with kids and perfect for parties. Prepare them ahead of time and store them in the fridge with the lids on. The jars easy to transport, too. Top with oreo crumbles and a tombstone cookie when you’re ready to serve and “dig” in!

Butter Sugar Egg Vanilla Flour Baking powder Poppy seeds Salt Decorating gel

  To assemble this Halloween chocolate dessert, you’ll also need Oreo cookie crumbs and six 125ml mason jars.

For the chocolate mousse

We use a really simple chocolate mousse recipe that comes together quickly. Just melt the chocolate chips in the microwave with half the cream. Then beat the rest of the cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form to make whipped cream. Then, gently fold the two together and divide it into small jars.

For the tombstone sugar cookies

Feel free to use your favorite sugar cookie recipe, or use the one we include in the recipe card below. Once you’ve made the cookie dough, roll it out and use a knife to cut it into tombstone shapes before you bake it. Writing RIP on top after they come out of the oven makes them look like they belong in a graveyard! Tip: There will be more cookie dough than you need for the mousse so you can use it to make more fun and delicious Halloween cut-out cookies!
