What is a smoothie bowl?

It’s basically a thicker and creamier version of smoothies – a super fun and delicious way to enjoy your smoothie with a spoon instead of drinking it through a straw. While smoothies you can gulp down in seconds, smoothie bowls take a bit more time to enjoy and feel like an actual meal with different flavors and textures. In my personal opinion, the most exciting part is the toppings! Add whatever you fancy, like nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, etc. Depending on your choice of ingredients, these thick, creamy, soft-serve-like bowls can be enjoyed as a snack, a quick meal, or even as a nutritious dessert! And this carrot banana smoothie is another great recipe to try.

How to Make a Thick Smoothie Bowl

You can basically transform your favorite smoothies by using less base liquid and/or adding a thickener like oats, nuts, avocado, chia seeds, frozen fruits, etc. You can always add more liquid so it’s best to start with less and add more as necessary.

I do want to mention that you don’t want to go overboard with the toppings, especially for babies. It can be too filling for their tiny tummies. Related – 12 BEST vegetables for smoothies
