Tips for Serving Muffins to Babies and Toddlers
If looking for that perfect first muffin, you’ve come to the right place! For children under 2, it is best to avoid added sugar. Along the same lines, try to avoid those that are overly sweet. You can learn more in this post – I explain one of the most common questions – which foods to introduce first, fruits or vegetables. These fruit-sweetened muffins are subtly sweet, and I believe you’ll really appreciate my veggie-loaded savory muffins as well! If you’re struggling to get your toddler to eat their vegetables, try baking these with them! Cooking together has so many benefits, including increased willingness to try new/disliked foods. Enjoy these muffins for breakfast, as an on-the-go snacks, or pack for your child’s daycare/preschool!
Sweet Baby Muffins
All of these muffins are made without refined sugar. My go-to ingredients are mashed bananas and unsweetened applesauce. I also love to add Greek yogurt for a boost of protein, fat, calcium, and vitamin D. It also helps make the muffins soft. If you have older kids, feel free to add some maple syrup or chocolate chips. And if your baby has an egg allergy, I offer suggestions for substitutions as well! While this is a cake recipe, you can totally turn it into muffins!
Apple Cinnamon Muffins
Who can resist this classic combo? Made without eggs and dairy, these are an allergy-friendly hit!
